Instead of turning right toward the cantina and the monastery, continue straight along the trail. You will encounter a gate, which is rarely locked, but if it is, you can easily go around it.
As you move around the other side of the mountain, the path rewards you with stunning panoramic views. About halfway through the route, you will pass a small building that was formerly used as a generator station, where you can turn toward the Kalamaki / Kanalio routes.
Continue onward and you will soon reach the base of the old quarry, where the view is truly unmatched. There is also a small hill that leads up toward the quarry itself.
