In Sgournes, the church of Agios Spyridon, the “Lady of the Angels – Akathistos” and Panagia Vlacheraina bear witness to monastic traditions that once flourished in the area. A little further on, the “haunted” Domeneghini Tower combines the grandeur of the wealth of old Zakynthian aristocracy with the actions of Zakynthians in support of the 1821 Greek Revolution.
